Plaid Enterprises’ 3rd Annual Trick Your Pumpkin Contest - Going On Now!

It’s time for Plaid’s annual Trick your Pumpkin contest! Crafters simply decorate a pumpkin and submit a photo to be eligible to win great prizes. This year, we are celebrating the many faces of Halloween! Here’s your chance to show us your favorite pumpkin face and win great prizes. This contest is under way and many people have already begun submitting their pumpkins. Don't delay and enter today!

We want YOU to create a three-dimensional pumpkin using your favorite Plaid products – and there are no limits to what you can create!  All we ask is that the pumpkin be three-dimensional – this means that no flat pumpkins are allowed – the actual pumpkin body itself must be at least 1/8” thick. Possibilities include real pumpkins, craft pumpkins, paper mache, clay pots, wood, fabric and more. Use your imagination and Trick Your Pumpkin!

The contest submission date runs from September 27th through October 24st. After the submission period ends several craft celebrities, will narrow down the entries to the top twenty pumpkins. The craft celebrities will include Cathie & Steve, Amy Anderson, and Rachel Faucett. Then from October 26th – 28th it will be the public’s time to cast their vote on the top 20. The winners will be announced on October 31st.

Prizes include:

1st Place: $100 cash & $200 worth of Plaid products

2nd Place: $50 cash & $150 worth of Plaid products

3rd Place: $25 cash & $75 worth of Plaid products

We also will award three superlative prizes of Plaid products valued at $25 retail. These prizes will be awarded to the Funniest, Scariest, and Most Decorative.

Monday Funday: Candy Corn Charm Bracelet
By Candie Cooper - To see more crafts created by Candie check out her blog, Candie Cooper's Journal

I've got candy corn on the brain. Anyone else? These beads and charms from Plaid are good enough to eat too.

You can find the Halloween Holiday Glitz line only at Joann Fabrics. Charms, chain, beads and more! Pick your favorite charms and beads, black chain and a large silver chain and clasp. You'll also need some jump rings, head pins, a few random beads, and a basic jewelry pliers set.

Cut the silver chain to fit your wrist. Secure the two chains together at the end with a jump ring. Weave the black chain in and out of the silver chain. Secure the opposite ends with another jump ring and check the fit again. Make adjustments if needed before trimming the black chain.

Make some beaded charms by stringing beads on head pins and finishing with a loop. Add a clasp to the jump rings that are holding the chains at both ends.

Lay out the charms along the length of the bracelet and attach them with heavy silver jump rings.

The vintage Halloween image charms are so sweet and they come in pendant sizes too.

October 31st is right around the corner. You can whip this bracelet up in an hour (or maybe less if you're a seasoned jewelry maker). How's that for a treat?!
