Web Wednesday : Learn To Make A Pocket Pouch & Paper Butterflies
Often times it is not uncommon to have a brain freeze when it comes to thinking of new crafts to create. Thankfully the world wide web provides us with so many different outlets, to find new craft projects. I usually make the web the first place I go to for craft inspiration. I love to search other craft sites, and see what catches my eye. There are so many creative and unique crafters out there. The only problem is I tend to find so many new craft projects I want to try out. So many crafts, so little time. In one of my recent web searches I came across these two fun summer themed kids' crafts, that caught my attention. Both I like a lot, because they are colorful and very easy to make.
The first is a pocket pouch. This craft comes from Family Fun. It is a great recycled theme craft that shows you how to turn a pair of empty juice pouches into a simple coin purse. Tuesday Kids Talk: Throwing A Kids Craft Party
 If you are tired of the plain old traditional kids parties, then get creative and be unique. Throw a craft party for the kiddies. Seriously, how many times have you done, or gone to other kids parties with the same themes? A superhero, a princess, and cartoon themes have all been done before. Step outside the box and try something new for a change. A craft themed party is a great way to keep the kids busy, it's fun, and easier then you think to arrange. A craft party theme is also a lot more affordable than other party themes will cost you.
The first thing you will need to do is decide what types of crafts you will create during the party. You can find lots of suggestions online, and even right here on our kids craft blog. Be sure when selecting projects for your party, to keep the ages of the kids attending in mind. You want to make sure that the crafts will be age appropriate. Another important thing to remember is safety. Make sure that all the crafts are kid friendly. And also be mindful of the crafts you decide to create in terms of gender. If you are going to have boys and girls at your party, make sure to have crafts that can appeal to both.
Now on to deciding what crafts to make. I'm sure you will not have all the supplies you will need on hand, so you will have to make a trip to your local craft store. A good idea would be to plan on making several craft projects that can use the same supplies. This can help minimize how much left overs you will have, and cut down on cost on supplies you buy.
They day of the party, before everyone arrives, lay out all your craft supplies and set up designated stations for each project. At each station place some written instructions for each project. The instructions should be easy to read. As the kids begin to arrive, allow them to at first hang out with one another, and then let them begin crafting. Explain to them all the project options, and let them choose what they want to create. While the kids are crafting make sure there is plenty of adult supervision, and be ready to help out if needed.
As the kids finish their projects set up a designated area in the house or outside in the backyard. If time permits, allow the kids to do a show and tell, so they can talk about what they made. Congrats! Your craft party was a hit, and the best part is that everyone gets to leave with a party favor, that they made. No one goes home empty handed, and everyone is happy.
