Friendly Alligator Keepsake Box
By Sheri RagsdaleNormally when you think about alligators they do not come to mind as one of the friendliest animals, however that is going to change with this adorable and easy kids' craft. This simple to do project will be a hit with kids, and a great way to create some extra storage space for all their little trinkets. A perfect craft for beginners, that will only take about an hour to create. So let's get started.
You will need the following items: Apple Barrel Paints - 20587 Spring Green, 20503 White, 20504 Black, 20513 Bright Yellow, and Stencil Decor - 1533 3/4" spouncer. For supplies: A small triangle wooden box from Michael's Arts and Crafts, 3/4" flat brush, liner brush or black permanent marker, pencil, glue, two-1 1/4" doll head/knobs, and two-7/8" split wren eggs.
First base coat your wooden box with Spring Green, and allow to dry completely.
Next, paint the eyes and the nose with Spring Green.
Then using a 3/4" spouncer and Bright Yellow, make circles on the wooden balls.
Use the other end of spouncer and the Black paint, to make holes in the nose. Make sure to do this on the larger end of the split eggs.
Next, using a small round brush make the Black eyes of the alligator.
Glue the eyes and nose in place.
Now you are almost finished. Use a pencil to draw the teeth of the alligator.
To finish up, fill in the teeth with the White paint.
Hooray you are all done, and now the proud owner of an adorable and friendly alligator. Enjoy!
