Did you have a bug box when you were
young? I did. Several actually. Here's another dollar store
dress up project. I found the hat and the net for $1 each! Here's
how you can jazz them up a bit!
The basic materials are paint brushes,
Mod Podge, green Folk Art paint, brown paper bag, and washi tape.
Cut tiny strips of washi tape and cover
the handle of the butterfly net. Seal it and make it extra smooth with
Mod Podge Matte.
For the hat, I crumpled a brown paper
bag repeatedly to get it soft and smooth. Then I cut wedge shapes for the
top of the hat and Mod Podged them in each section. Because I love
details, I hot glued a button on top, some brown cord and buckle across the
brim and a piece of netting around the inside of the hat. You can find light netting in the fabric section of the craft store
(usually used for tu-tus and weddings).
It's time for backyard exploring!
Just no bugs in the house, right?!
