Monday Funday: Paper Wrapped Easter Eggs

Can you believe that Easter is only a
few weeks away? It comes early this year, but there is still plenty of time to
get crafty. One of the most popular Easter projects for kids to create are
Easter eggs. Kids will love making paper wrapped Easter eggs with strips of
paper and Mod Podge. Cathie and Steve created this paper wrapped egg using our
special Mod Podge Wash Out formula. This formula is special because it is kid
friendly. If they accidentally spill some on their clothes, it washes right
out. Below are all the supplies you will need below, along with their instructions.
PLAID Supplies

Plaid ® Hot Glue Gun

Mod Podge ® Wash Out
For Kids, 8 oz.
Other Supplies
Easter egg shape (plastic/wood or real)
Foam paintbrush
Scrapbook paper
Scissors
Bird nest
moss
Hot glue
Instructions
1. Cut the sheet of scrapbook paper
into 1/4” strips. Apply Mod Podge to the back and front of the strip,
position one end on the egg and begin wrapping the egg with the strip in a
random pattern. Repeat the process until the entire egg is covered.
Allow to dry.
2. Hot glue a palm-full of moss to the center of the nest. Hot glue the
egg into the nest.
PROJECT TIP: Add a touch of glitter by top coating the egg with Sparkle
Mod Podge.

Teaching Thursday: Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Teaching Thursday: Spooky Spider Frame
Save and store your Halloween memories

Monday Funday: Crochet Flower Pumpkins
Happy Monday! Is anyone else as excited
for the upcoming fall season as I am? One of my favorite decorative items to
bring out during the fall, are pumpkins. You know pumpkins aren't just for
Halloween, they're decorative items that you can use through the whole season.
Use them as a centerpiece, or to jazz up a mantle. Cathie and Steve recently

Teaching Thursdays: Popsicle Stick Art

Summertime is
here, and this is one of the best times of the year for kids to craft. They are
out of school and they are looking for things to get into. Why not have them
get into crafting? Here is a project designed by Cathie and Steve. This
Popsicle Stick Art is a great painting project, which uses something your kids
are sure to eat a lot of this summer, Popsicles. Let your kids indulge a little
and use the Popsicle sticks in this fun project. See all the supplies and instructions

PLAID Supplies

FolkArt ® Acrylic
Colors - Citrus Green, 2 oz.

Pigments™ - Titanium White, 2 oz.

Colors - Cayman Blue, 2 oz.

Colors - Tangerine, 2 oz.

Medium Sponcer Paintbrush, 8x10 Art Canvas, Foam Paintbrush, 17 Popsicle Sticks (the narrow ones), Scissors, Glue, Gathered Ribbon (wide) for Flower Center, Large Button, and 1.25-yards Narrow ribbon for Canvas edge
Instructions
1.
Begin by painting the
canvas with two coats of Tangerine paint. Allow to dry.
2.
Paint 15 Popsicle
sticks with Cayman Blue paint and 2 sticks with Citrus Green. Allow to
dry.
3.
Cut one of the green
sticks in half. Position the green sticks to look like a flower stem at
the base of the canvas. Glue in place.
4.
Working with each
blue stick, cut 1/3 of the stick off. You should have one long section of
stick and one shorter section. Just above the stem, position 15 of the longer
sticks in a circle pattern. Glue to secure. Overlap the shorter
sticks over the longer sticks. Glue in place.
5.
Glue the gathered
ribbon around the inside of the flower. This will cover up the ends of
the sticks. Glue a jumbo button in the center.
6.
Dip the spouncer
brush into the white paint. Tap off any excess paint and press onto the
canvas creating polka dots. Allow to dry.
7.
Glue the narrow
ribbon around the outer edge of the canvas.

Tuesday Tutorial: Nautical Lantern

Make an altered lantern with nautical
style for dad. With Father’s Day on the horizon, here is an amazing and simple
craft you can make for your Dad. It makes for a great Father’s Day gift,
especially for the man that can appreciate anything nautical. Cathie and Steve
designed this project. Gather the supplies listed below, and get your kids
involved in the action as well.
PLAID Supplies

Plaid ® Hot Glue Gun
Helpers
·
FolkArt ® Acrylic
Colors - Brilliant Blue, 2 oz.
·
Mod Podge ® Satin, 8
oz.
Other Supplies
Lantern
Map paper
Scissors
Hot glue
Rope
Red ribbon
Seashell
Instructions
1. Paint the top and base of the
lantern with Brilliant Blue. Use two coats of paint.
2. Remove the glass windows from the
lantern. Trim the map to fit the glass windows. Using a foam
paintbrush, apply Mod Podge to the glass window and to the back of the map
paper. Position onto the windows. Smooth the paper with a Mod Podge
Brayer. Allow to dry for 15 min. Replace the windows into the
lantern.
3. Hot glue rope around the base and
top of the lantern. Tie a red ribbon through the handle and hot glue a
seashell to the top.
Project Tip:
When using Mod Podge on glass keep a few handy-wipes on hand to clean any Mod
Podge that might get on the glass.

Teaching Thursdays: Owl Barrette Holder

In case you haven't noticed,
little girls begin accumulating accessories very early on in life. Their first
accessories are typically little bows and barrettes. Finding a way to store and
organize these items can often be a bit difficult. These items are so small can
be lost easily. Well here is an adorable project that can help solve this
problem. This Owl Barrette Holder is the perfect way to store your little girl’s
barrettes. Cathie and Steve designed this project. It is very simple to create,
and it is a great project to have your kids help make.

PLAID Supplies
·
FolkArt ® Acrylic
Colors - Bright Green, 2 oz.
·
Mod Podge ® Matte,
8 oz.

Other Supplies
Wood owl shape (or other shape of your choosing)
Scrapbook paper (3 sheets of coordinating designs)
Ribbon (2 coordinating colors - 1.5 feet of 1 color and 3 feet of the other)
Adhesive letters (to spell the name of your choice)
Craft knife and cutting mat
Hot glue gun
Foam brush
Instructions
1.
Use a sponge brush to
base-coat the wood owl shape with Bright Green. Allow to dry and apply a second
coat. Allow to dry for 24 hours.
2.
Use the craft knife
and cutting mat to cut shapes of scrapbook paper to cover areas of the owl.
3.
Apply scrapbook
papers to the owl using a sponge brush and Mod Podge Gloss. Apply Mod Podge
directly to the bottom of the papers and adhere to the owl. Allow to dry for
two hours and then coat the entire surface of the owl.
4.
Affix the adhesive
stickers to the owl with the name of your choice.
5.
Cut the 3” of ribbon
into two 1.5” strips. Hot glue the three strips of ribbon to the back of the
owl. Allow project to dry completely before using.

Tuesday Tutorial: Recycled Box Zoo
Can you believe the month of April is
half over? It’s amazing how much time flies when you’re creating. I don’t know
about you, but for the majority of April I have been trying to do my part to make
our Earth a cleaner place. I have really made an effort this year to recycle
more, and craft with recycle items. Recycled items are great to use for kids
crafts. This recycled box zoo project is a great example of this. Make this fun
kids' decorative accessory from an old box top. Cathie and Steve designed this

to attach the letters and animals to the front of the box.
5. Cut a simple
door shape from scrap paper. Attach it to the front of the box with a thin
layer of Mod Podge. Hot glue a button to the door to serve as a handle.

Monday Funday: Revamped Composition Notebook

Happy Monday!
Hope you all sprung your clocks forward over the weekend. We lost an hour, but
we gained more sunlight as the day moves on. So now that it will be a little
brighter when your kid’s get home, you may be more inspired to have them craft
more after school projects. Here is a great project that is simple to
make, and useful. This revamped composition notebook was designed, by Cathie
and Steve. This is such a cool way to take an ordinary notebook, and turn it
into something extraordinary.
PLAID Supplies

Plaid ® Hot Glue Gun

FolkArt ® Acrylic
Colors - Navy Blue, 2 oz.
·
Mod Podge ® Gloss, 8
oz.
Other Supplies
Composition notebook
Scrapbook paper
Scissors
Scrap cardboard
Foam paintbrush
Hot glue
Velvet ribbons
Rhinestones
Instructions
1. Cut the
scrapbook paper to fit the front of a composition notebook. Coat the back of
the paper with Mod Podge. Position the paper onto the front of the
notebook. Use your fingers to press any air bubbles. Allow to dry
for 15 min. Add a top coat of Mod Podge.
2. Cut a letter
from scrap cardboard. Paint the letter with Navy Blue paint. Once
dry, attach to the front of the notebook using hot glue and Hot Glue Gun
Helpers.
3. Hot glue
ribbons and rhinestones to the front of the notebook.

Teaching Thursdays: Mod Podged Mirror

Today on Teaching Thursdays we wanted
to share with you this delightful, decoupage mirror. Cathie and Steve designed
this mirror, and it is a perfect craft for beginners. Have your tween or teen create
this Mod Podge mirror. It will be a perfect addition to place on their dresser.
PLAID Supplies

FolkArt ® Acrylic
Colors - Navy Blue, 2 oz.
·
Mod Podge ® Gloss, 8
oz.
Other Supplies
Hot Glue Gun Helpers
Wood framed mirror
Foam Paintbrush
Floral scrapbook Paper
Scissors
Hot glue
Velvet ribbons
Rhinestones
Instructions
1. Paint
the wood portion on the frame with Navy paint. Allow to dry. Add a second
coat of paint. Let dry.
2. Cut the flowers
from the scrapbook paper. For this design we just applied the flowers to
the lower corner. Coat the back of the papers with Mod Podge. Position
the papers onto the front corner of the mirror. Use your fingers to press
any air bubbles. Allow to dry for 15 min. Topcoat with a layer of Mod
Podge. Smooth your brushstrokes. Apply the Mod Podge to the entire
frame to create a gloss finish.
3. Hot glue
ribbons around the outer edge of the mirror. Glue rhinestones to the front
of the frame.

Teaching Thursdays: Spring Fling Headband

Get your
little girls ready for spring, by having them create this adorable headband.
This headband was designed by, Cathie and Steve. This spring fling headband is
the perfect accessory. It is bright, fun, and colorful. This is an easy to do
project that your little girl is sure to love creating.
PLAID Supplies
·
Mod Podge ® Paper -
Matte, 8 oz.
Other Supplies
1" foam brush, Scrap paper, Decorative paper, Pencil, Scissors, Wax paper, Rickrack trim, Hot glue gun, 3 small silk flowers, 3 medium
rhinestones, Scrap of coordinating ribbon
Instructions
1.
Create a template of
the headband by tracing it on a piece of scrap paper. Using the template as a
guide, cut the headband shape from the decorative paper.
2.
Using a piece of wax
paper and a foam brush, coat the back and front side of the paper with Mod Podge.
Position the paper on the headband, press out any air bubbles with your fingers
and smooth your brush strokes. Allow to dry.
3.
Hot glue rickrack
trim to the edges of the headband. Hot glue silk flowers to the mid-top
section. Hot glue a rhinestone to the center of the flowers. Hot glue a scrap
of ribbon around the two ends of the headband to secure the rickrack. Allow to
dry.

Tuesday Tutorial: Valentine Party Favor

Happy Valentine’s Day! On this day of
love, you might be in need of just one more craft project to create. Here is an
easy and simple craft that was designed by Cathie and Steve. Our crafty duo shows
you below all the supplies and instructions you will need, to whip up this cute and
easy Valentine’s Day treat.
PLAID Supplies
·
FolkArt ® Extreme
Glitter™ - Hologram, 5 oz.
·
FolkArt ® Acrylic
Colors - Pink, 2 oz.
·
Mod Podge ® Matte, 8
oz.
Other Supplies
Clear heart shaped favor box, Bubble wand, Foam paintbrush, Scissors, Hot glue
gun, Decorative paper, Wood heart, Ribbon or trim, Silk flower, & Rhinestone
Instructions
1.
Trace the lid of the
box onto the decorative paper. Apply a layer of Mod Podge on the inside of the
box lid and on the top of the paper. Place the paper inside the lid (print side
should show through the lid) Press with your finger until smooth. Apply more
Mod Podge as necessary.
2.
Paint the wood heart
pink. Topcoat with 3 coats of Hologram Extreme Glitter. Allow to dry.
3.
Using hot glue, add
trim around the box, the heart to the top of the box and a silk flower and
rhinestone to the heart.
4.
Cut a piece of paper
to fit around the bubble wand. Apply Mod Podge to the back of the paper, wrap
around the wand and topcoat with a second layer of Mod Podge. Once dry, glue
ribbons around the top and bottom.
